At the Law Office of David T. Siegel, Esq., LLC our philosophy is that estate planning is not death planning, but life planning. The estate plans we create will provide protection, control, and flexibility to an entire family for their life, through an unforeseen incapacity, and after the death of a loved one. The goals of each family are unique to that family and we build a unique and comprehensive estate plan to fulfill the specific goals of each individual family. We accomplish this by coordinating their relationships, finances, and healthcare needs through a comprehensive estate plan.
Special Needs Planning is essential to provide lifelong support to a loved one that is disabled mentally, physically or emotionally, or who has special needs. When planning for a special needs or disabled child or adult, there are unique rules and laws that must be followed to maximize the resources available to that person over their long life. We have dedicated ourselves to the study, application, and execution of the many regulations, laws, and rules associated with planning for these special circumstances, so that they do not negatively effect any public benefits the person is currently or may receive in the future.
Eventually we reach a time in our lives when we need to start planning for our own long-term care needs. This could include residency at a nursing home or through additional support from Medicaid or long-term care insurance. Many people think that they have to sell their homes and give away all their assets to accomplish these goals, that is simply not the case. Planning in advance is the best way to ensure that our clients have options for protecting their assets, protecting the family home, and protecting the spouse of an incapacitated person, no matter if the need for care is in the near future through pre-planning, or has already happened through crisis planning.
